When Hashem told Noach to build the teivah, He gave him exact instructions: the size, the floors, the structure — every detail. But then Hashem added something unusual:
“Make a tzohar for the teivah.”
What’s a tzohar?
Rashi brings two opinions from Chazal:
- Some say it was a window to let light in.
- Others say it was a precious stone that gave off light from within.
And hidden in these two views is a powerful secret for how you’re meant to live.
Are You Bringing In Light, or Being Light?
A window doesn’t create light. It only lets light from outside come in.
A jewel shines because it is light. It doesn’t wait for the sun. It radiates from its own essence.
There are two ways to serve Hashem:
- You can be a window — letting bursts of inspiration in when conditions are good.
- Or you can be a jewel — generating light no matter what’s happening around you.
Don’t Wait For Inspiration
Look around: the world can feel heavy. Confusing. Dark.
If you’re waiting for outside inspiration to lift you, you’ll spend your life stuck — surviving on scraps of motivation.
But if you learn to awaken the light inside you — you become unstoppable.
You don’t just survive the world.
You transform it.
You don’t just defend yourself against darkness.
You turn the darkness into light.
Two Levels of Inner Work
Your avodah has two stages:
- First, open a window.
Clear away the blocks. Stop the noise. Let Hashem’s light in.
This looks like honest davening, real learning, slowing down to see Hashgacha Pratis in your daily life. - Then, become a jewel.
Reach a point where your very being shines with Emunah, with Simcha, with clarity — without waiting for a “perfect” day.
The world doesn’t just stop hiding Hashem.
The world itself starts to declare His presence through you.
This Is the Work of Geulah
When Moshiach comes, the world won’t just be “less dark.”
The world itself will radiate G-dliness.
- Obstacles will turn into opportunities.
- Struggles will turn into strengths.
- Night will shine as brightly as day.
That’s not just a future dream. That’s your personal mission right now.
Every time you choose to stop waiting for outside light — and instead bring your own — you’re living Geulah right here, right now.
The Soul Message
You’re not here to be a thermometer — reacting to the weather.
You’re here to be a furnace — generating warmth and light from the inside out.
You don’t need to wait for inspiration.
You are the inspiration.
Be the jewel.
Shine because it’s who you are.
