Why Hasn’t G-d Revealed Himself to You Yet?

When the Rebbe Rashab was just a little boy — four or five years old — he went to his grandfather, the Tzemach Tzedek, for a birthday blessing.

As he walked in, he was crying.

His grandfather asked him, “Why are you crying?”

The little boy answered, “I just learned in Parshas Vayeira that Hashem revealed Himself to Avraham — and I’m crying because Hashem hasn’t revealed Himself to me!”

The Tzemach Tzedek smiled and told him:
“When a Jew, even at ninety-nine years old, decides to circumcise himself — then he’s worthy for Hashem to reveal Himself to him.”

And with that, the child calmed down.

But what about you and me?

Are we just supposed to wait until we’re ninety-nine?

Absolutely not.

Every Jew Has the Right to Demand Revelation

This story reveals something bold and revolutionary:

No matter how young or “unready” you feel, you have the right — and even the obligation — to cry out and demand:
“I want to see G-d!”

You don’t have to be a tzaddik.
You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”
You don’t have to be satisfied with spiritual mediocrity.

Like that little boy, your soul knows what it’s missing — and it refuses to settle for anything less than real, tangible connection with Hashem.

But There’s One Condition

The Tzemach Tzedek’s answer wasn’t just a soothing comment.
It was a roadmap:

If you want revelation, you need to be willing to “circumcise” yourself.

Meaning?

You have to cut away the “orlah” — the spiritual blockages, the laziness, the self-indulgence, the inner resistance — anything that’s insulating you from living with full holiness and authenticity.

Even if you’ve already accomplished a lot — even if you feel in control — there’s always a deeper layer you can refine.
There’s always another step of surrender.

The more you remove those inner barriers, the more you become a vessel to actually experience G-d.

You Are Never Finished

In the life of a Jew, there is no “I’ve made it.”
No matter how much you’ve grown, there’s always a next level — a finer refinement, a deeper surrender, a more radical connection to Hashem.

And when you commit to that constant self-circumcision — that relentless pursuit of truth — you don’t just become holier.

You become a ruler over your own senses, your own impulses, your own world.

You receive everything you need — children, life, livelihood — not as a struggle, but as an overflow of your deep connection to Hashem’s infinite blessing.

The Soul Message

You were not born to live in hiding from G-d.

You were born to cry for revelation.
You were born to demand more.
You were born to cut away every obstacle and stand face-to-face with your Creator.

And when you do, Hashem reveals Himself to you — just like He did to Avraham Avinu.
